01 How the score works

One honest number for the health of the market.

The Market Health Score reads the US stock market and the economy behind it, then boils it down to a single number from 0 to 100. No jargon, no black box. Just a calm daily read on whether the market is healthy, mixed, or under stress.

Clear skies, my friend. Stay the course and keep investing. Calm hands win the long game.

02 Honest by design

What it measures, and what it does not.

A number is only useful if you know exactly what it is reading.

What it reads

  • The US large cap stock market, the S&P 500
  • The trend, the fear level, and how broad the strength is
  • The US economy: credit, jobs, and money in the system
  • Live public data, updated every day

What it does not read

  • Crypto and Bitcoin
  • Small cap or penny stocks
  • International or single country markets
  • Any one stock you happen to own
03 The engine

The six signals, in plain English.

Each one answers a simple question. Together they give the full picture. The readings below are live.

Trend
live
Is the S&P 500 above or below its 200 day average. Above means the long run trend is up, which is healthy.
Fear Gauge
live
The VIX. It measures how nervous traders are. Low and steady is calm. High and rising is fear.
Breadth
live
How many S&P 500 stocks are healthy, not just the few giants. Broad strength lasts. A narrow market is fragile.
Credit
live
How much extra interest companies pay to borrow. Calm spreads mean lenders are relaxed. Wide spreads mean stress.
Liquidity
live
US money supply. How much money is moving through the system to support prices and growth.
Jobs
live
The US unemployment rate. A strong job market supports spending, earnings, and a steady market.
04 One number

How six signals become one number.

Each signal is scored on the same scale and weighted by how much it really tells us about market health. We add them into a single reading from 0 to 100, then translate it into a color you can read at a glance: green and healthy is 70 to 100, yellow and mixed is 40 to 69, red and under stress is 0 to 39.

Green does not mean buy and red does not mean sell. It means know the weather before you make a move. A healthy market is the calm stretch where staying invested quietly does the heavy lifting. A market under stress is the moment to hold the line and not panic.

Every value is real. The signals are pulled from public sources like the Federal Reserve and live market feeds. When a source is briefly down we say so rather than invent a number. Honest beats confident.

05 The whole point

Why one honest number beats the headlines.

Mr. C, your retirement coach
That is my whole job. Cut through the noise to one honest read, so you panic less and stay invested. The market is loud. You do not have to be.

The news sells fear because fear keeps you watching. Every red day becomes a crisis and every green day becomes a party. For someone trying to retire on a steady plan, that noise is the enemy. It pushes people to sell at the bottom and buy at the top, the exact opposite of what works.

One honest number does the opposite. It replaces a hundred screaming headlines with a single calm read you can check in five seconds and then get on with your day. The goal is not to make you trade more. It is to help you panic less and stay invested.
